The Art of Social Media by Guy Kawasaki : A Review

The Art of Social Media by Guy KawasakiIf you are using social media in your business, ‘The Art of Social Media‘ by Guy Kawasaki and Peg Fitzpatrick, should be sitting next to your computer.  It's an indispensable guide packed full of tactics, tips and resources to manage your social media networks like a pro.  You could read and follow dozens of social media blogs and websites for weeks and not get as much out of them as you can in this book in just a few hours reading.

AOSM provides 120 tips, techniques, resources and over 100 links that can turn even the freshest social media newbie into a power user in sort order.  There is no fluff here.  This is hard-core, actionable advice.

The book covers all of the major social media sites.  Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slideshare, and YouTube.  The layout is tactical checklist for deploying or reviewing your current social media and content curation plans.

Social Media and Content Curation Strategy

Both Guy and Peg are huge content curators and provide solid advice for developing a social media and curation strategy.  Guy presents his personal social media workflow for content curation, including his posting schedule, sources for content and much more.  In this respect he is completely transparent, even to the point of inviting the reader to view and use his personal site where he stores the queue for his future tweets.

Of course, using Guy's Twitter feed isn't going to guarantee your success in social media.  You must tailor your content curation to your audience and particular content niche. What Guy and Peg do is provide a sound approach and step-by-step model to develop your own content curation strategy.

If you find yourself lost, confused or overwhelmed by the voluminous and often conflicting advice on content curation and social media ‘The Art of Social Media‘ is for you.  I highly recommend it.  I'm using it to develop my own content curation and social media plans.
